| Abstract: | A synthetic sequence for the conversion of 6-methoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalenone (I) to the bridged tetracyclic compound, 2-methoxy-6-oxo-7,8a-ethano-12-oxo-6,7,8,8a,9,10-hexahydrophenanthrene (VII) is described.A synthetic sequence for the conversion of 2-methoxycarbonylmethyl-6-methoxy-1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydronaphthalenone (II) to (±)-3, 16-dioxo-20-nor-hiba-5, (6)-ene is described. |
