| Abstract: | A new antibiotic, toromycin (antibiotic B-21085) was isolated as yellow crystals from the culture broth of Streptomyces collinus subsp. albescens subsp. nov. The antibiotic has the molecular formula C27H26O9 and is the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon group of antibiotics. Toromycin is active against gram-positive bacteria, mycobacteria, mycoplasma, DNA viruses and some bacteriophages. |
