| Abstract: | A minor component of cigar tobacco (+)-3-isopropyl-5-hydroxypentanoic acid lactone (I) was isolated. Synthesis of (+)-I from (+)-limonene established the absolute R-configuration. Stereochemistry of (+)I is also described. |
