Abstract: | A peptidoglutaminase activity in microorganisms was detected using carbobenzoxy-l-glutamine or tertiary-amyloxycarbonyl-l-glutaminyl-l-proline as substrate. By screening, an organism which produces a relatively large amount of peptidoglutaminase was isolated from soil. The organism was identified as Bacillus circulans. The highest enzyme formation by the bacterium occurred during stationary growth phase in the basal medium containing lactose (0.5%) and polypepton (1%). |
