糖尿病的细胞治疗

Cell Therapy for Diabetes Mellitus

Lack or defect of insulin-producing cells produces type 1 diabetes mellitus. It is a common disease, affecting human's health. Recently, it is possible to apply cell replacement therapy to diabetes mellitus, with the progress on cell transplantation and tissue engineering. However, cell replacement therapy for diabetes is limited by the scarcity of donor cells. Pancreatic stem cells may be a potential source of insulin-producing cells. The recent research in this aspect was reviewed.
