Abstract: | The distribution of the all segments of IUD use consists of two components: the distribution of the length of each segment and the distribution of the number of segments. In this article, a compound distribution of all segments of IUD, developed by the authors is described. The distribution assumes that each segment of IUD use is a mixed exponential distribution and the number of segments experienced by women is a truncated Poisson distribution. This distribution is useful in estimating the demographic impact of an IUD and IUD program. |
