Catechin, gallic acid, andthree biflavans were the most prominent as spots on paper chromatograms.Kaempherol-7-glucoside, quercetin-7-glucoside, an unidentifiedflavanone glycoside, ellagic acid, an ellagic acid derivative,a galloyl ester, and two other hydrolysable tannins were detected.A leucoanthocyanin, cyanidin-3-monoglucoside, chlorogenie acid,a scopoletin glycoside, a derivative of arbutin, DOPA (3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine),and three unidentified polyphenols comprised the other phenolicscommon to the four cultivars.
