Abstract: | Ca2+-signaling, alternative splicing, and stress responses by the endoplasmic reticulum are three important cellular activities which can be strongly interconnected to alter the expression of protein isoforms in a tissue dependent manner or during development depending on the environmental conditions. This integrated network of signaling pathways permits a high degree of versatility and adaptation to metabolic, developmental and stress processes. Defects in its regulation may lead to cellular malfunction. |
