Enhanced growth and feeding rate in Atlantic salmon parr occupying a lacustrine habitat in the River Utsjoki, northern Scandinavia

The length, weight and stomach fullness index of salmon parr from a lake were higher than in a fluvial habitat on the same river in northern Finland, but no differences in diet composition were detected between the habitats in August. The most important food items of the parr in both habitats were insect pupae and adults. Some lake parr also fed on fish.
