Abstract: | Eel pancreatic acetone powder was extracted with an acetone-water-HCL mixture. An acid acetone powder was formed by addition of a copious volume of cold acetone to the extract. The powder was subsequently subjected to gel filtration on Sephadex G25. Opiate receptor binding activity was present mainly in fractions retarded on Sephadex G25 (MW less than 5,000) although some activity was present in the unretarded fraction (MW greater than 5,000). Steroidogenic activity was absent from all fractions. |
