Abstract: | When Arthrobacter hyalinus was grown on isopropanol, a large amount of red pigment was accumulated in the culture broth. The pigment was isolated from the culture broth. With thin layer chromatography, FD mass, IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and absorption spectra methods it was found that the red pigments were composed of type III varieties of coproporphyrin, penta carboxyl porphyrin, hexa carboxyl porphyrin, hepta carboxyl porphyrin and uroporphyrin, and some type I uroporphyrin. |
