| Abstract: | Palmitic acid was inhibitory to the growth of Brochothrix thermosphacta in liquid culture at 0.5 mmol/l. Uptake of 1-14C]-palmitic acid by the organism has been demonstrated, and was reduced at acid pH. These findings are discussed in relation to the known effects of fatty acids on bacteria. |
