Abstract: | Populations of Large White, Large Black, Poltava Meaty, Pietrian, and Meishan pigs are characterized by intron PvuII polymorphism in the estrogen receptor 1 gene (ESR1). These breeds differ in ESR1 alleles and genotypes frequencies. In the populations, there are deviations in the genotype distribution from the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. The established estrogen receptor 1 locus association with the reproductive traits of Large White sows indicates the possibility of using intron ESR1 PvuII polymorphism as a genetic pregnancies marker in pig selection. |
