Le dotriacontane-10,17¹⁴C a été introduit dans le milieu de culture de la diatomée marine Chaetoceros simplex calcitrans Paulsen. Aprés 9 jours de culture, les cellules sont réintroduites dans un milieu neuf pour une nouvelle période de 9 jours. La capture de l'hydrocarbure et son métabolisme sont étudiés et fournissent un ensemble de renseignements originaux sur les relations organisme phytoplanctonique-milieu. La capture et le métabolisme sont rapides et les métabolites formés mettent en évidence une modulation des besoins répercutée à tous les niveaux des échanges. Une telle expérience de double culture n'avait jamais été décrite jusqu'à ce jour.

Dotriacontane-16,17¹⁴C has been introduced in the culture medium of the marine diatom Chaetoceros simplex calcitrans Paulsen. After 9 days of culture, the cells are re-introduced into a fresh medium for a new period of 9 days. The capture of the hydrocarbon and its metabolism have been studied and give new information about the relationships of this phytoplanktonic organism and its medium. The capture and metabolism of dotriacontane are rapid and indicate a modulation of the needs at all levels of the exchanges. Such a use of double culture does not seem to have been used previously.
