Modulation of excitation transfer in the intracardiac ganglionic system by the opioid peptide dermorphin
Authors:N A Sokolova  V I De?gin  E P Iarova
Abstract:The aim of the study was to determine whether opioid peptides could modulate the intracardiac ganglionic excitation. It has been shown that postganglionic impulse activity recorded in the frog intracardiac nerve was inhibited by endogenous amphibian opioid peptide-dermorphin (10(-12)-10(-6) M). The inhibition was blocked by naloxone (10(-5) M). Dermorphin (10(-6) M) had no influence on transitory impulse activity in the intracardiac postganglionic sympathetic fibers. It is suggested that opioid peptides take part in the mediatory process in the intracardiac ganglia.
