| Abstract: | A method is described for the degradation of 14C-labeled lysine with determination of radioactivity in the individual C atoms. The method depends on permanganate oxidation of lysine to give δ-aminopentanoic acid, γ-aminobutyric acid, β-alanine, and glycine, and on ninhydrin decarboxylation of glycine. The method will be equally useful for determining the distribution of 15N and 3H in lysine. |
