| Abstract: | Trypsin banded karyotypes of rat and mouse chromosomes were analyzed for banding pattern similarities. Apparently identical banding patterns were found, covering about 40% of the genome of each species. Predictions are made as to what gene loci are located on specific rat chromosomes. The problem of the relationship between the genetic content of a chromosome and its banding pattern is discussed. |
