| Abstract: | Mature leaf fragments from eight species ofXyris from the Serrado Cipó, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, were preparedby the usual methods for electron microscopy. Ultrastructuralanalysis of phloem shows the occurrence of nacreous walls witha polylamellate structure in the sieve-elements ofX. tortilisand plastids similar to P-plastids, form PIIcf in the sieve-elementsof all investigated species.
