On the Estimation of Effective Number of Alleles from Electrophoretic Data

Estimation of the effective number of alleles in natural populations from the frequencies of electrophoretically detected alleles involves significant ambiguity, which should be explicitly considered in the estimate. For large genetic populations the ambiguity importantly affects the value of n(e).
