| Abstract: | Additions of 50 to 100  g of acid-hydrolysed alginate oligosaccharides ml–1 and enzyme-hydrolysed pectin oligosaccharides to 24- to 48-h cultures of Penicillium chrysogenum, ATCC 9480, led to enhanced production of chrysogenin by over 30 to 40% in shaken flasks and bioreactors. Some of the oligosaccharides also promoted biomass formation but were not used as a carbon source. |
