2. Disorders in the Formation of Meaning

In the previous section we dealt with gross disorders in the hierarchy and mediation of motives. We showed how derangement of mediation and hierarchical structure leads to gross changes in a person's activity. We showed how a transformation of a human need into a compulsion deranges the complex system of socially developed norms and the patient's personality.
