| Abstract: | The ability to clone and functionally express genes encoding membrane transporters in Leishmania and related parasitic protozoa has illuminated the processes whereby these parasites acquire nutrients from their hosts. It is now possible to probe the physiological functions of these permeases and investigate their role in drug delivery and resistance. |
