Postfire recovery of the ground cover in pine forests of the Lower Angara region

This paper traces the dynamics of the living ground cover at the initial stage of pyrogenic succession (1–9 years) after different-intensity surface fires in the pine forests of the Lower Angara region. Depending on their intensities, fires have reduced the foliage cover and ground-cover biomass. The greatest changes occur in case of medium-intensity and high-intensity fires that change the horizontal structure of plant microgroups and lead to the death of moss-lichen layers.
