| Abstract: | The first genome sequence of an intracellular bacterial symbiont of a eukaryotic cell has been determined. The Buchnera genome shares features with the genomes of both intracellular pathogenic bacteria and eukaryotic organelles, and it may represent an intermediate between the two. |
