Use of an organic buffer (hepes) in human lymphocytoid cell line cultures

Summary N-2-Hydroxyethylpiperazine-N′-2-ethanesulfonic acid (HEPES) added to bicarbonate buffer in cell culture medium was found to promote continuous logarithmic growth of human lymphocytoid cell lines. Consistent high yields of viable cells were obtained in the combined buffer system. Storage of lymphocytoid cells in the combined buffer system at room temperature allowed successful reinitiation of growth of the cultures.
