| Abstract: | The cyclic GMP concentration of dark-adapted rod outer segments (ROS) is approximately 30 pmoles/mg protein and only 3 pmoles/mg protein in ROS light-adapted in vivo or in vitro. The cyclic AMP concentration of dark-adapted ROS is about 2 pmoles/mg protein with no difference observed upon bleaching. A role for cyclic GMP in the visual process may thus be indicated. |
