| Abstract: | The review characterizes the main enzymatic systems of selective proteolysis responsible for maintenance of intracellular proteome in prokaryotes, eukaryotes and archaea. The features of proteolytic components of the ATP-dependent proteases as well as similarity and diversity of their regulatory components belonging to AAA+ ATPases are discussed. |
