Abstract: | GABA at physiological concentrations has been shown to stimulate the synthesis of arginine phosphate in lobster walking nerves. This effect can be observed both in intact axons and in axonal homogenates. The stimulatory activity of GABA on the synthesis of arginine phosphate appears to be on the Vmax of arginine phosphokinase whereas in the reverse reaction the effect is referable to the Km of ADP. |
