| Abstract: | Abstract a˜-Factor, unlike α-factor, does not significantly enhance hybrid formation by protoplast fusion in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae . When Mat α cells are treated with a-factor prior to being proto-plasted and fused, the frequency of hybrid formation is only slightly increased over unarrested controls. |
