On Two Measures of Unbalancedness in a One-Way Model and Their Relation to Efficiency

This paper discusses two measures of unbalancedness in a one-way model and shows that for a given statistical procedure they may serve as measures of efficiency of a design. They also allow to compare for example estimation methods for variance components in designs with a fixed level of unbalancedness.
