| Abstract: | Starting with the definition of the process term kLa, steady state and nonsteady state measuring methods are described for its determination. Then the sorption characteristics for mixing vessels and for bubble columns are presented with respect to the coalescence behaviour of the system treated. They permit the scale-up of these devices and the optimization of their process parameters for a required oxygen uptake. In addition to the sorption characteristics for the given system the knowledge of the flooding point and the power characteristics is necessary for the lay-out of mixing vessels, whereas in the case of bubble columns the gas hold-up characteristic needs to be known. |
