Abstract: | The original demographic estimates for Pecos Pueblo, New Mexico (Hooton, 1930) indicated a 60/40 male/female adult sex ratio and an average life expectancy at birth of 42.9 years. A reanalysis of sexes and ages for a subsample of the Pecos collection as well as a reevaluation of a more recent report suggests that the adult sex ratio for Pecos is probably closer to 50/50 and that the mean age at death should be greatly reduced, perhaps by as much as 15 to 20 years. |
