Abstract: | Cholic acid, which preferentially associates with the non- cellulose component of lignocellulosics, is used as a probe to monitor changes in the relative surface area of this fraction of lignocellulosic biomass-to-ethanol substrates. The method is experimentally demonstrated in a traditional enzyme-catalyzed lignocellulosic saccharification experiment. |
