Electron-probe Microanalysis of Silicon in the Roots of Oryza sativa L.

Employing the electron-probe microanalyser, the localizationof silicon in the different tissues of the mature root of ricehas been investigated. Deposition of silicon is specific tothe endodermis. The heaviest accumulation is associated withthe inner tangential walls and to some extent the radial wallsof the endodermal cells.
