Abstract:Deoxyribose was found to be damaged and then changed into thiobarbiturate reactive substances(TBAS)by active oxygen species from systems of Fe ̄(2+)-hypoxanthin-xanthineoxidase. The results indicated that in Fe ̄(2+)-X-XO concentrations system the TBAS production was increased when both deoxyribase and Fe ̄(2+) concentrations were increased but similar result with increase of XO was observed only within the 0. 018 U/ml range.This system was applied to determine the activity of scavenge hydroxyl radical of compound containing phenolic group with strong inhibition activity on the formation of TBAS which increases with the increase of its number of phenolic group.
