Abstract: | A segment of polymyxin-coated polyester cloth was placed onto a blotting pad and 10 mL of a dilute Salmonella lipopolysaccharide (LPS) sample was passively pipetted through the cloth segment (taking about 40 s). The LPS concentrated on the segment was assayed by immunoreaction with rabbit-anti LPS antibody and anti-rabbit-peroxidase conjugate (taking about 60 s), followed by colorimetric measurement of peroxidase. This rapid assay increased the detectability of Salmonella about 1,000 times. |
