Abstract: | Plastids were obtained from the ripening fruits of Capsicum annuum, and incubated in vitro in the presence of [35S]methionine (Met). There was polypeptide synthesis at all stages of pepper tissue studied in both chloroplasts and chromoplasts, dependent on the addition of nucleoside triphosphates and phsophoenolpyruvate and inhibited by D-threo-chloramphenicol. |
