| Abstract: | The permanganate oxidation of free nucleotide bases was successfully studied in aqueous solution of tetraethylammonium chloride using spectroscopic techniques. The reaction was highly selective toward thymine and uracil, less with cytosine, very little reaction on guanine, and no reaction on adenine. |
