Abstract: | Indomethacin lowered the cellular content of adenosine 3 ′: 5 ′-monophosphate (cAMP) and stimulated growth of polyoma virus-transformed 3T3 fibroblasts. Exogenous prostaglandin E2, at concentrations produced in the absence of inhibitor, reversed the effects of indomethacin on cAMP levels and cell proliferation. Therefore, endogenously produced prostaglandin E2 decreases cell growth and raises the levels of cAMP in these cells. |
