Abstract: | HL-A antigens from several clones of human fibroblasts lost reactivity with specific antisera during serial subculture in association with a substantial decrease in plating efficiency. Uncloned (mass) parental cultures maintained the same antigen reactivities at comparable stages. The loss of detectable surface antigens during aging of fibroblast clones in vitro is consistent with an immune basis in vivo for age-dependent degenerative and neoplastic disease. |
