Abstract: | IN right handed individuals, the two cerebral hemispheres seem to be specialized for different functions. The role of the left hemisphere in controlling language and the preferred hand is well known, but the specialization of the right hemisphere has proved harder to define1. The effects of unilateral cortical damage and, in particular, right temporal resections2 have led to the view that the right hemisphere is concerned with analysis of complex visuo-spatial patterns. This view is supported by work on brain bisected patients3 and by tachistoscopic studies such as those of Durnford and Kimura4. |
