| Abstract: | This study about the faluns of Touraine modifies our knowledge on the distribution of the Middle Miocene Cirripedes. So, the occurrence of Megabalanus tulipiformis in these faluns is confirmed and that of Balanus amphitrite is refuted. The discovery of representative members of Tesseropora allows the reevaluation of the palaeobiogeography of this genus. A new species of Balaninae, Fistulobalanus ligeriensis is described, which possesses: parietes of the wall plates with secondary inner lamina and primary tubes transversally septed; sheath vesicular; radii medium to broad; tergum with no deeply excavated basal margin on carinal side of spur, spur width greater than spur length and greater than distance from spur to basiscutal angle, spur furrow open. Besides, the occurrence of Megabalanus dollfusi in the Red Crag of England (Plio-Pleistocene) is established. |
