Abstract: | Although the Kestrel has a preference for Short-tailed Voles where they are obtainable, it is an opportunist hunter and will exploit local abundance of other kinds of prey, even earthworms during spring ploughing. Small birds figure most importantly in the diet during periods of severe weather. |
