Abstract: | Two stock solutions are composed as follows: A) aluminum sulfate, sodium iodate and acetic acid in aqueous propylene glycol and B) hematoxylin in pure propylene glycol. When combined in specified proportions the stock solutions yield aluminum-hematein dissolved in nontoxic propylene glycol. The ready-to-use stain, prepared in small volumes as needed, performs well in paraffin sections of plant tissues. |
