Abstract:Summary Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was applied for detection ofAnaplasma marginale in tissues of maleDermacentor andersoni. Primer sequences were derived from the gene for the MSP1β surface protein ofA. marginale (Florida isolate). Optimum PCR conditions were used to detectA. marginale in individual bisected ticks and salivary glands; associated control tissues were negative.
