Compartmentation of albumin and globulin storage proteins in protein deposits of pea embryo axis cells

Summary Compartmentation of storage proteins within vacuolar protein deposits in embryonic axis cells of developing pea seed is demonstrated by immunogold labeling. By this method, a sulfur-rich albumin (PA 1) is restricted to the peripheral layer of the deposits and appears to separate the globulin-rich (vicilin) central region from the presumed aqueous phase of the vacuole.
