| Abstract: | Molecular design and applications of a fluorometric chiral agent, (S)-TBMB carboxylic acid, are briefly reviewed. The agent, possessing an asymmetric 1,3-benzodioxole skeleton, was designed as a novel class of chiral agent that functions also as a benzoate chromophore for exciton chirality CD methods. The utility of this agent has been demonstrated in an application to determine enantiomeric amino acids, acyl-sn-glycerols, glycosyl-sn-glycerols, and other chiral alcohols and amines. |
