Abstract: | The uptake of glucose, 2-deoxyglucose, proline, methionine, and alpha-methylamino isobutyric acid was studied in brain capillaries preincubated with 50 mM galactose either in vitro or isolated from galactose-fed rats. The uptake was not decreased in both cases. The linear rate of glucose oxidation by capillaries was also not altered by preincubation with galactose. |
