Abstract: | Abstract Diploptene and composite triterpenoids of the hopane series, 35-(0-β-galacturonosyl)-2β-methylbacteriohopanetetrol and 35-(0-α-glucuronosyl)-2β-methylbacteriohopanetetrol, a novel hopanoid, as well as their non-methylated equivalents, were isolated from the temperature resistant cyanobacterium Synechococcus PCC 6907. This is the first report of rare bacteriohopanetetrol glycosides containing glycuronic acid moieties from a cyanobacterium. |
