Abstract: | Iron-sulfur (Fe-S) cluster-containing proteins perform important tasks in catalysis, electron transfer and regulation of gene expression. In eukaryotes, mitochondria are the primary site of cluster formation of most Fe-S proteins. Assembly of the Fe-S clusters is mediated by the iron-sulphate cluster assembly (ISC) machinery consisting of some ten proteins. |
